Felix Huettenbach is a founder, investor, adventurer and YouTuber based in Dubai who backs founder-led companies as an angel, and who, according to his own disclosures, holds positions in SpaceX, xAI, the Y Combinator startup Platus and the food brand House of Macadamias. Before he invested in other founders, Huettenbach was one himself: during COVID-19 he built Sameday Health into a testing chain with sites across the United States. This profile looks at his investing activity, the reasoning he has made public and how it connects to his work as a company builder.
The following positions are based on what Huettenbach himself has disclosed:
Alongside these, he is a co-founder and partner of Terranum, a Dubai-based developer of renewable-powered data center campuses.
Huettenbach did not come to investing through a traditional finance career alone, although he has some of that background. From 2016 to 2017 he was part of the investment team at Aurelius Equity Opportunities in Munich, where his work covered market entry analysis and financial models. Most of his career since then, however, has been spent building companies.
He founded the fitness-technology company W8X in 2017 and served as Chief of Staff at Quantgene, which uses machine learning to detect cancers early from standard blood samples; when the pandemic began, he set up a unit there offering COVID-19 testing to companies.
Huettenbach's best-known operating role was at Sameday Health, which he led as co-founder and CEO from September 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, starting with one testing site in Venice, Los Angeles. Under his leadership, that single clinic had become more than 50 locations in 15 states by March 2021. By November 2021 the company reported more than 1.5 million COVID-19 tests and over 50,000 vaccines administered, and it had launched Sameday Health House Calls, with nurses arriving at a home, hotel or office in as little as an hour. Introducing the service, Huettenbach said "there is a demand for more convenient, personalized care". He says he is passionate about making healthcare more affordable, transparent and approachable, and House Calls were meant to undercut the price of the traditional house call. In 2022 virtual urgent care consultations followed in select states, with same-day medication delivery through the partner pharmacy Capsule. As CEO, Huettenbach had grown the company to 55 locations across the United States and more than 1,000 employees by April 2022, a hiring phase he later summed up as "1,000 employees in 100 days". He stepped back in 2023, after he and the management team decided a physician should lead the company, and moved into investing and infrastructure. Today he invests as an operator and angel investor in founder-led companies.
Asked what he looks for in founders, Huettenbach has given a short answer: "Ownership mindset is the first signal." The phrase suggests a preference for founders who treat the company's outcomes as their own, rather than delegating responsibility for outcomes.
A related principle runs through his public statements: "Execution beats narrative." Taken together, the two lines describe a filter that prioritises what founders do over how they present it.
His most detailed public explanation of a single investment concerns SpaceX. His LinkedIn essay "Why I Became an Early Investor in SpaceX (Hint: Starlink)" makes the case that Starlink turned SpaceX from a visionary bet into a business case, because billions of people lack reliable internet.
The portfolio is not limited to large technology names. Platus, part of Y Combinator's F24 batch, represents early-stage startup investing, and he is listed as an investor there. House of Macadamias, a food brand, shows that his angel activity extends to consumer products. The common thread, by his account, is founder-led companies rather than a single sector.
Terranum is different from his angel positions because he is a co-founder rather than an outside investor. He argues that Sameday Health, with its multi-site operations, approval processes and near-zero downtime, prepared him for that kind of work. The Dubai-based company is planning a 100 MW, fully off-grid, renewable-powered data center campus in Prieska, South Africa, designed for hyperscale demand by 2029. He and Terranum's Victor Decalf met local officials there in March 2026 about preliminary approval.
The connection to his investments is visible in the themes: connectivity and computing appear both in his SpaceX reasoning and in Terranum's business.
Huettenbach's investing profile combines a small set of disclosed angel positions with a founder's view of what makes companies work. His stated criteria are brief and practical, and his most public investment thesis rests on a business case rather than a vision. Readers should note that the specific holdings described here are based on his own disclosures.
