What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?

"What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?" - was a question which cropped up yesterday. The words that came to mind were those of Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird     

“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do”

Perhaps this was never more true than when Matty a boy with cerebal palsy decided he was going to finish the race anyway, and won every heart on that field.

   

In the afternoon ITV3 broadcast a favourite film from 2003.  Seabiscuit, is a true story of how 3 men afflicted in diferent ways by loss and change during the Great Depression are brought together by an undersized racehorse  The movie ends with this memorable quote by Red Pollard

 "You know, everyone thinks that we found this broken down horse and fixed him, but we didn't. He fixed us, every one of us, and I guess in a way we kinda fixed each other, too."
