Dear Jeremy Corbyn, Jeff has another question - about #socent

I'm not the same Jeff you referred to this week in the commons, but like that Jeff, I've paid my taxes throughout a working life.  Now I'm a pensioner.

What I've done also, is run a social enterprise which uses its profits for the benefit of society

One of the things this social enterprise did, was to tackle the culture of neoliberalism which allows wealth to accumulate in the hands of a minority

As we said, when we published A 'Marshall Plan' for Ukraine in 2007:

'This is a long-term permanently sustainable program, the basis for "people-centered" economic development. Core focus is always on people and their needs, with neediest people having first priority – as contrasted with the eternal chase for financial profit and numbers where people, social benefit, and human well-being are often and routinely overlooked or ignored altogether. This is in keeping with the fundamental objectives of Marshall Plan: policy aimed at hunger, poverty, desperation and chaos. This is a bottom-up approach, starting with Ukraine's poorest and most desperate citizens, rather than a "top-down" approach that might not ever benefit them. They cannot wait, particularly children. Impedance by anyone or any group of people constitutes precisely what the original Marshall Plan was dedicated to opposing. Those who suffer most, and those in greatest need, must be helped first -- not secondarily, along the way or by the way. '

In our advocacy, we identified a major obstacle to this kind of economic justice. The recent release of the Panama Papers underlines their greed.  Our research on childcare abuse, in Death Camps for Children, spelt it out:

“Excuses won’t work, particularly in light of a handful of oligarchs in Ukraine having been allowed to loot Ukraine’s economy for tens of billions of dollars. I point specifically to Akhmetov, Pinchuk, Poroshenko, and Kuchma, and this is certainly not an exhaustive list. These people can single-handedly finance 100% of all that will ever be needed to save Ukraine’s orphans. None of them evidently bother to think past their bank accounts, and seem to have at least tacit blessings at this point from the new regime to keep their loot while no one wants to consider Ukraine’s death camps, and the widespread poverty that produced them..”

From what I know of you, I believe that as leader of the Labour Party, your values are aligned. Unfortunately this is not the case with your predecessors, who have become more than willing to assist these oligarchs in their avarice.

Tony Blair for example accepts donations for his Faith Foundation from Viktor Pinchuk and the relationship between Lord Mandelson and Rinat Akhmetov is also well known.

It is the relationship between 3 British Peers, (including Lord Mandelson) and Dmitri Firtash which concerns me most. They plan to deliver a 'Marshall Plan' strategy for Ukraine and we may be assured that it will not focus on those in greatest need.

This is AMU, the Agency for the Modernisation of Ukraine.

"Three British peers have agreed to play a key role in an ambitious recovery plan for the war-torn Ukraine economy.

Labour peer Lord Mandelson, a former EU trade commissioner, will head an agency tackling trade issues; Lord Macdonald, former head of the Crown Prosecution Service, has agreed to manage a law enforcement workstream, while Lord Risby and the Earl of Oxford are members of a six-strong advisory board."

Sergiy Leshchenko, Ukrainian MP and anti-corruption activist describes The Firtash Octopus

Dirty money from the East has become a resource for dozens of European structures and politicians. Sergii Leshchenko reports on some of those that are only too happy to open their doors to a Ukrainian oligarch willing to invest millions in cleaning up his image.

In an attempt not to be branded as a money launderer and to save himself from being transported to America in handcuffs, Firtash has launched a multifaceted campaign to clean up his image, recruiting dozens of politicians, intellectuals, lobbyists and cultural figures in Europe and the US.

My question is - where can I find social justice?

In their collaboration with this oligarch and a 'Marshall Plan' , these 3 British peers are not only engaging in the misuse of intellectual property, but also involve themselves in the theft of opportunity from some of the most vulnerable and voiceless, who well deserve the protection of a loving family home.

It was Lord Mandelson who said of the social enterprise summit in 2009, that his department was "helping firms to help others". Clearly he is offering more help to those who harm others, through their greed.
