Sir Ronald Cohen: The empty kettle of social investment

It's about an invisible heart.

So invisible, in fact that a PR campaign is required to let others know about it:

Deepak Chopra says social media may save the world

At the Do Good summit he explains that social media is the next phase of humanity

From the white paper for People-Centered econmonic development:

Occupy Social Enterprise: Does self-interest foster terrorism ?

When Leo Szillard put the concept of a nuclear chain reaction to Einstein, Einstein was take aback. He'd been convinced that releasing energy from splitting an atom was nigh impossible. He hadn't considered the secondary effect of released particles.

The same might be said of the failure to understand the secondary effect of a social enterprise re-investing to fund other social enterprises. To be more accurate in this analogy,it would be as if Einstein had held his hands over his ears.  ,

Dear Ed, About your responsible capitalism

Dear Ed,

First and foremost let me say that I believe in responsible capitalism. It''s something we've practiced since 2004 when we  approached government with a proposal to tackle poverty. It said:

Marilyn Ferguson: The Moral Equivalent To War

Unearthing this video today featuring Marilyn Ferguson, author of The Aquarian Conspiracy - one of the primary influences on People-Centered Economics, I was struck by her reference to "The Moral Equivalent to War"

People-Centered Economic Development: Social Impact Report

In the P-CED white paper the case is made for an alternative to capitalism which can be “measured and calibrated in human terms” . The report below was requested by and delivered to the RBS SE 100 Index for 2011.  Given the sensitivity of the issues, it would have been unwise to reveal the impact of a  production agreement for medical isotopes while Terry Hallman was still alive.

Our Supplier in Bangladesh

They're called Sikraft and they specialise in software products which serve the healthcare market

I'm using the term supplier loosely because we've never had the opportunity to sell any of their products

The use of an overseas supplier would appear to contradict our stance on stimulating local economies but I make the following points:

Peace is our Business

The proposal below was written by P-CED founder Terry Hallman to assist in the creation of a scientific education centre. . One of the aims, as you’ll see was to promote cooperation between Ukraine and Western countries, for example a recent international conference in Kharkiv.

Left Unity - really?

Whenever I hear the word unity.....I don't know what to reach for, perhaps I should just reach .

So I though I'd try it out, after reading an article calling for us to Live Together or Die Alone.

Dying alone was the outcome I related when I wrote recently - We are all in this together, illustrating that we are not.

That's why I tweet as

Milton Friedman and the shareholder value myth

“There is one and only one social responsibility of business-to use its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits so long as it stays within the rules of the game, which is to say, engages in open and free competition without deception or fraud.”

~Milton Friedman~  US economist (1912-2006)
